Ashwin Chima is a contender on season three of The Glee Project.

PersonalityEdit

Ashwin is a really sweet kid. He's a joker, and loves making people smile. He's expecially respectful of adults (as per his upbringing), and avoids most confrontation. Ashwin has a bucketful of charm, but usually he's content to just sit in the background of a group of talkers.

HistoryEdit

Ashwin grew up in Smithtown as the cliche awkward nerdy Indian kid. His parents were very traditional, so there was no question of his becoming a doctor, and he spent most of his time in high school in academic clubs and activities. However, he also snuck into choir as an elective, and absolutely adored it, slowly adding drama club and theater into his extracurriculars. It was in sophomore year he discovered he was gay and began dating his first boyfriend, which he also kept hidden from his parents. When he was accepted into both Yale and Berklee, he realized he would have to 'fess up to his parents about everything if he wanted to be true to himself and his dreams. His parents, though disappointed he was choosing a less secure profession, accepted his musical ambitions (after all, they were the ones that insisted he learn piano when he was young). However, Ashwin's mother was extremely upset that he was never going to marry an Indian girl and have children, and they fell out of contact. Ashwin graduated from Berklee Magna Cum Laude and got a job as a research assistant while he attempted to make his dreams of the Great White Way come true. When he learned about The Glee Project, he decided to audition to offer other Indian kids with musical ambitions someone that they could relate to.
